The president of Institute of Modern Problems of Ukraine public organization Metelyova T.O. has visited the Shelter in Boridianka and certified horrible facts. When entering the Shelter, the visitors are demanded to hand in the passport and it is returned only at the exit – something that doesn't exist in any of the enterprises with controlled access. It is forbidden to make photos of animals if one doesn't have a written permission of the shelter management. Animals are kept in epidemiologically dangerous conditions that are mortally harmful for animals themselves and the people, who visit the Shelter. Almost all animals that have been at the Shelter for more than a week get ill and their condition becomes grave. Visually, one can observe the depressed state of the animals (especially cats), loss of weight (which often comes to dystrophic condition), salivation, purulent discharge from eyes and nose, lichen spread on the skin, behavior that is typical to those infected with helminth. Healthy and infected animals are kept together. Despite the availability of the doctor, the animals are not provided with medical aid. When taking the animal that is already paid for, a citizen is required to sign a document that states that the general condition of the animal is satisfying, even if the animal, according the staff itself, is dying.
